What is Leadership? How to Lead Self and Others in the Organization (Dinner Meeting)

| Location: | Our meeting site is at the River Creek Country Club (http://www.rivercreekclub.com/), in Leesburg. The clubhouse is a 30,000 square foot building and is situated at the end of Olympic Boulevard. It provides an incredible natural gallery for guests to watch golfers finish the 18th hole and capture the breathtaking beauty of the historic Potomac River. The picture below is the view from the back of the Country Club. Directions to the site from Route 7 headed West: Turn right onto River Creek Parkway . Travel approximately 1.5 miles to the River Creek Development . Go through the security gate and follow Olympic Blvd to the end (you can let the attendant at the gate know that you are there for a meeting). You will see River Creek Club. Parking is on the right. |

In the world today the need to clearly understand what leadership is at all levels in an organization is very important. James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner state in their best selling book, The Leadership Challenge, that “Leadership is Everyone’s Business”.
Walt Hogan, presenter will invite participants to join him in a dialogue, which includes their thoughts, feelings and experiences in defining what leadership is. If it is everyone’s business how do we define it? Whether for business or personal reasons leadership is vital to a person’s ability getting things done.
This interactive session is designed to build thoughtful dialogue around some foundational concepts of leadership. Understanding the difference between managing and leading others. Identifying characteristic of effective leaders, defining leadership and identifying effective methods for developing leadership skills.
WALT HOGAN is a certified organization development (OD) consultant/executive coach with expertise in the areas of leadership, management and human resource development (HRD), also team and staff development. Walt’s other interests and professional expertise’s are in the areas of team coaching, group facilitation, customer service, mentoring, and diversity/inclusion training. For over 18 years Walt has provided a wide range of OD and HRD interventions for both public and private enterprises.
Walt has worked in several managerial positions in both government (local, state and federal) and private industry. In addition he has held several senior management positions within Cable and Wireless, plc (C&W) a multinational telecommunication company, based in the United Kingdom. At (C&W) he led many organizational development, executive, leadership, and human resource development initiatives while managing the training and development function supporting over 5,000 employees.
Walt started Symbiosis, his coaching and consulting practice in May 2003. The focus of Symbiosis is to assist clients with improving the bottom line by focusing on the client’s staff, management and leadership development needs. His mission is to improve human performance in the workplace.
