Leesburg SHRM Board Minutes

February 8, 2011

In attendance:  Dario Campolattaro, Laura Metcalf, Charles Roberts, Katie Mann, Courtney Nicholson, Rasa Kurdika, Stacy Lynskey. 

2011 Goals

Continued enhancement of communications to membership

·        New website, newsletter, emails

o   Update – Rasa provided draft of newsletter, which everyone approved. 

Programs

·        Evaluate if we should add morning discussion group

o   Update – We will have 2 in 2011, probably May and September.

·        Evaluate various social media to better reach students and younger members.

·        Four Sponsor openings on 2011 meeting schedule

o   Update – One filled, now three Sponsor openings.

 

Board Succession Planning (two-year terms)

Motions were made, seconded and approved for the following:

  • 2010 Budget – Budget deviation from December dinner turned out to be a moot point.  According to Pete, figures did not appear to net out correctly, but amount actually over budget was only $200.

  • An increase to $25 each for Speaker and Sponsor gifts

Reports on Action Items

  • Lynn reported that membership retention is 67.7% or 42 members.  This should give us Gold Status for the 2010 SHAPE.

  • Laura reported that the outstanding Sponsor invoices have been resolved.  All but one paid and we have written that off.   Discussed the need for standard invoice at January meeting -   

    • Remaining Action Item - Laura will develop electronic invoice and send via email.         

  • Lisa Ross profiled Dario for our first newsletter, has Charles for another.  She will continue to profile members and will tap the Board for upcoming profiles.

  • Katie distributed Draft Membership survey and has decided to use Constant Contact for distribution.

New Action Items:

  • Rasa will prepare final newsletter and have distribution schedule for next board meeting.

  • Rasa will also create electronic version of speaker evals to roll out 1st Qtr

Discussions:

New website.  Courtney reported that SHRM is working on our website now, After Migration Steps 1 and 2, we will be able to review before Step 3.

Scholarships – will apply only to PHR/SPHR programs vs. HR-related college degrees.
